Yamila Rodriguez represents Argentina at the Women’s World Cup, but, according to her, she feels sick because of…a tattoo.
And it’s not just a tattoo: the 25-year-old, who represents Palmeiras, has Cristiano Ronaldo’s face painted on her left leg. Which infuriated the Argentine fans, although the same leg also bears a tattoo of Maradona.
In a social media post, featuring a montage of Ronaldo with Lionel Messi, the striker admitted he was not feeling well and told people to stop.
“Please stop, I’m not OK. When did I say I’m against Messi? Stop saying things I didn’t say, because the truth is that I’m not OK (in the middle of the World Cup representing my country). I don’t feel bad for you, but for the barbarism that is said so mercilessly… Can’t a person have an idol or a player they like? Please,” Amila wrote.
“I didn’t say I’m against Messi, I never will be. Messi is our great captain in the national team. Saying that my inspiration and idol is Ronaldo doesn’t mean I hate Messi. Simply for me (everyone can like different things and that should be true) I like another player more, who inspires me more. What’s the problem?
Ymela concluded afterwards, “We are not all obliged to love only the players of our country. Please understand that this is football and everyone has their own tastes and preferences. To highlight one does not mean to bury the other. That is enough, it is tiring, it is painful.”
