The Escola Superior de Saúde de Santarém has trained more than 94 nurses who are now starting their careers. On Friday, December 9, the recent graduates attended the closing session of the 33rd Nursing Course – Course 1 in the auditorium of the Higher School of Nursing.
One by one, the graduates presented and received the “Nursing Symbol” badge, said Helia Dias, principal of the school. Together, the finalists read the Honor Commitment “Student to Professional Transition Code”.
Two awards named after the two founding nurses of the College of Health were also awarded. The Albergaria Martins Award recognizes “the student who, in addition to his degree and attendance, has demonstrated interest, appropriate personal relationships, and identification with the profession throughout the course.” In the opinion of the majority of the students on the course and the teachers, Francisca Marcelino Amorim was the person most deserving of receiving the Albergaria Martins Award.
The Ernesto da Fonseca Nurse Award is given to “any person who has completed an internship at Santarém Provincial Hospital and who has excelled in the context of clinical teaching in training for professional integration” and has been awarded to Ana Catarina de Oliveira, Laura Alexo and Francesca Marcelino Amorim.
