Sporting women’s football team players Ana Borges, Hannah Siebert and Telma Encarnação discussed the upcoming season today, describing the new additions as “calm” and “feeling like home.”
The “green and white” team officially begins the journey with a trip to the National Stadium in Oeiras, to face Racing Power, the finalist of the recent Portuguese Cup, on Saturday, at 5:30 p.m., in the semi-final of the Portuguese Cup. The Super Cup final, and in front of the press present at Loja Verde, the three players showed their belief that this could be the first step towards a successful season.
Ana Borges praised the signings that have been made, which have contributed to creating a team rich in attacking options in all the competitions contested, starting with the Super Cup.
“We make them feel at home and like they’ve always been here. Obviously they need time to adapt, to adapt to the team on the pitch, that’s part of it. But they have to be calm,” said captain Leo. “Calmly.
Like her teammate, goalkeeper Hannah Seibert praised her new teammates and envisions a “beautiful picture” as the season progresses.
“We now have a very diverse group, and I think it is very important to bring different experiences together and I think that when we bring them all together the picture will be beautiful as a whole. So, in this pre-season we expected to see players leave and others come, but we received a lot of good things,” the North American confirmed.
Among the various signings secured, the Portuguese international Telma Encarnação stands out, who hopes to contribute to a successful season for Sporting, as they return to titles in the women’s field.
“We have to work every day, some days go well and others go wrong, but I think we have to keep working, we have to be collective and all think about the same thing,” said the striker, who recently arrived at the club.
Telma Encarnação, 22, has promised to do everything she can to justify her signing and bring happiness to the Leones.
