“The AforroNet service has been suspended to improve security conditions,” the Treasury and Public Debt Management (IGCP) revealed in a statement published on its website on Friday, August 23.
“Any matter relating to savings accounts and savings products can be dealt with through the CTT network,” the IGCP said, without providing any date for re-establishing access to the service that allows subscription and consultation of savings certificates.
In apologies for the inconvenience caused, IGCP pledges to “be brief in completing the work in progress.”
“CTT channels are operating normally and are ready for increased demand. IGCP itself recommends access to CTT channels. In addition to our physical channels, the CTT app is the best way to serve savers with digital needs,” an official CTT source told the online newspaper Eko.
However, households started withdrawing money from government savings products again in July, maintaining the trend observed since the end of last year. According to data released on Thursday by the Bank of Portugal, the group of savings and treasury certificates fell by 102.16 million euros to 44,183.32 million euros.
It is the eleventh consecutive month of decline. In the case of the “stock” of savings certificates, July saw a monthly decrease from 19.29 million euros to 33,941.31 million euros. This was the eighth consecutive fall.
