Adele does not tolerate homophobia and defended the LGBTI+ community during a concert over the weekend in Las Vegas. The British singer silenced one of her fans, who shouted from the audience: “Pride!” [gay] It’s nonsense,” he said, referring to the human rights movement LGBT+ community. The artist replied, “If you don’t have anything good to say, shut up, okay?”
The video, in which the singer interrupts her performance to respond to one of the audience, quickly spread on social media. “I’m sorry, did you come on my show and say ‘Pride is bullshit’?” Adele asked, looking annoyed, as the audience booed the intervention. “Is this stupid? Don’t be so silly,” he added before continuing the show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where he has been performing as a performer for the past three years.
It is not known whether the spectator stayed until the end of the concert or left after the incident. Neither Caesars Palace nor Adele commented on what happened.
The ceremony in question took place on June 1, the first day of Pride Month, which celebrates the achievements of the LGBTI+ community. Adele is known to support this cause, and last year she wore a rainbow dress to Las Vegas concerts. In 2022, he also took the Pride flag to the ceremony in Hyde Park, London.
Years earlier, in June 2016, he dedicated a concert in Antwerp, Belgium, to all the victims of the shooting at the Pulse nightclub, in Orlando, Florida. The massacre in a gay bar led to the deaths of 49 people and the injury of 53 others. “The gay community has been like a companion to me since I was very young, so I’m very influenced,” he admitted at the time.
Adele’s artistic residency in Las Vegas continues until June 15. In August, he heads to Munich, Germany, to give a series of ten concerts attended by 80,000 spectators every night at the Messe Arena.
