General Coordinator of REM Acres Project – Phase II, Roseneide Sena, thanked them for renewing their commitment and strengthening trust between governments. “The feeling of being able to contribute with REM to create changes in the state is an achievement. The State of Acre signed a pledge to adopt the goals established in the State Plan to Prevent and Control Deforestation and Burning of Acre Forests (PPCDQ/AC). Germany and the United Kingdom, due to increased deforestation. The commitment established in the program and adopted by international cooperation is to reduce deforestation by 50% by 2027, starting in 2024, by 10% every year compared to the average of the last six years. With this new commitment, the German and United Kingdom governments will be able to release until the end of 2023, approx. € 6.7 million euros, and more in 2024 € 4.9 million Euros, completing the second phase of the REM project in Acre State.

The REM project is the result of a financial collaboration between the governments of Acker, Germany and the United Kingdom through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the United Kingdom’s Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). ), by KfW, through various organizations, implementing projects aimed at protecting forests to benefit thousands of rural, riparian, extractive and indigenous producers.
