Torino and Benfica are negotiating the transfer of Cecchinho and an understanding could be reached in the coming days. Clubs have resumed talks about the 26-year-old attacking midfielder in recent days, and there has been significant progress in their year-long dating relationship.
Chiquinho was the subject of conversation between Benfica and Torino when the clubs negotiated the transfer of Sualiho Mete, who was signed by the Reds from Turin for 6 million euros. But at the time, only Benfica admitted to negotiating the transfer definitively and its value is around 15 million euros.
Turin, however, explored other options. Riccardo Orsolini, from Bologna, Junior Messias, from Crotone, and Josep Bricalo, from Wolfsburg. None of the players demanded an investment that Torino did not want to make – Bologna asked 15 million euros, Croton asked 10 million euros and Wolfsburg 15 million euros. Time passed and Torino reached out to Benfica again. In contrast, the Reds received no other offer for the offensive midfielder. They admit, now, to Chiquinho’s lending, upon payment of a transfer fee, which may be deducted from the sums to be paid by the Meité. The clubs are also negotiating a €7.5m buyout option clause.
