The book, which is now in its third edition in Portugal, will be released in English under the title “Honest Broker: The Biography of Antonio Guterres” (“Honest Broker: The Biography of Antonio Guterres”, in Portuguese) on May 26 in Reno United, becoming available during the summer in US bookstores. The Great, published by Hearst Publishing.
In an interview with Lusa in April, authors Pedro Latoeiro and Filipe Domingues said the autobiography distances itself from “academic analyses, value judgments, or preconceived notions” and intends to give the reader freedom through reported stories and episodes. To think of Antonio Guterres’ character and the quality of decisions made in his path that are not without criticism, errors or inconsistencies.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations personally spoke with the authors on four occasions and allowed him to view his personal photo archive.
“I will never write my diaries, I never write notes on anything going on, I don’t have a diary and I throw away all papers, which have merit, every day you always think forward, not backward,” says Guterres, who is starting his second five-year term (2022). -2026) as Secretary-General of the United Nations in January, mentioned in the book.
