The Aedes aegypti mosquito infection rate in Capivari de Baixo remains low. This result came from a survey of the Rapid Infection Index of the Government of Santa Catarina, which was conducted between December 31, 2023 and January 15, 2024.
According to the Minister of Health, Plinio Vieira, there was an increase in Aedes aegypti outbreaks last year compared to previous years. Six outbreaks of the disease were identified during the 12 months, and all were controlled and eliminated. “Most of them were found during times of low temperatures, which raises concerns. With this increase in outbreaks, we also had a high demand for patients suspected of being infected with the disease. Of these, only three were infected with the virus, but they did not develop the disease in our municipality.” “.
He points out that the team of endemic disease control agents continues daily inspections of businesses and homes through complaints and other places for prevention and searching for larvae to combat dengue fever in the municipality. “With warm days, the appearance of larvae in 2024 gradually increases, and they are collected and analyzed in our entomology laboratory, making the return faster and more flexible for the positive or negative result of the eradication and control of Aedes aegypti,” details.
