The units of the Centro Hospitalar do Médio Tejo recorded, in the first nine months of 2022, a significant increase in the provision of health care to the population. The largest growth in demand for emergency services was observed: health professionals, as of September 31, responded to more than 110 thousand episodes, an increase of 30% over the same period in 2021.
More than 9,000 specialist outpatient consultations were performed, totaling approximately 133,000 consultations, of which approximately 40% were “primary consultations”. Scheduled surgical activity grew 27% in the first nine months. Nearly seven thousand surgeries were performed, with an average of 25 daily surgeries.
Day Hospital sessions also grew by 16% to reach a global total of over 24,000 sessions. Approximately two million complementary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures were performed, such as analyzes (+9%), imaging tests (+13%), histopathology (+44%), pulmonology (+45%), among others.
The aid activity recorded as of September 30 is higher than the pre-pandemic values, which take 2019 as a reference.
