Centro Hospitalar do Médio Tejo (CHMT) and the Portuguese Red Cross (CVP), in Torres Novas, signed a cooperation protocol to “capture and train young people in the region for technical and operational professions” for health.
In a statement, the CHMT, which brings together hospitals in Abrantes, Tomar and Torres Novas, said that the collaboration between the two institutions “stems from the recognition that it is an asset to enhance the prior skills of professionals who ensure, in particular, the jobs of Operations Assistants in the health services.”
The protocol, signed on 9 March by the President of the CHMT, Casemiro Ramos, and the President of the Portuguese Red Cross, Ana Jorge, includes skills training for health professionals through the Torres Novas Bol of the Portuguese Red Vocational School. By providing CHMT with its services to conduct the exercises.
Internships at CHMT will be carried out within the scope of degrees and postgraduate education, since “increased training capacity is required which includes the acquisition of a range of knowledge, attitudes and skills in order to respond to the requirements of health institutions” whose standards of quality and user satisfaction are increasingly high”, states the note .
The head of the CHMT, referred to in the statement, stressed that “challenges in the field of health are increasing and more complex” considering that after “the past two years of combating the” Covid-19 epidemic, this partnership comes “at a turning point in time.” As stated in the statement, the Portuguese Red Cross President stressed that with the launch of the protocol, “a contribution will be made to the existence of professional opportunities with guaranteed work potential, in hospitals, continuing care or in residential premises for the elderly.” Young people will also be able to pursue graduate studies, says Anna George, if they so desire.
