Continuing the visit of representatives of the Municipal Health Department of Itapira, the team met, on Friday (16), with the premises of the Basic Family Health Unit in the district of Novo Umuarama, Dr. Odelmo Liao Carneiro Municipal Hospital and Maternity Hospital (HMMDOLC) and Centro Vida – Municipal Health Qualification Program. The Itabira team consists of Municipal Health Minister, Luciana Sampaio, Health Department Coordinator, Fabiana Lima, and Health Procedures Supervisor, Alice Teixeira.
At the municipal hospital, they learned about the structure of the mother and baby network in Uberlandia, as well as maternity and its functioning. At Centro Vida, visitors observe how post-Covid patients are cared for and how the integration of specialized care and primary health care works for the holistic and continuity of care for the citizen.
The methodology caught the attention of the Minister of Health, Luciana Sampaio. “This management between primary and specialist care that has been implemented is a good practice to be applied in Itabira. In addition, we also have a recovery center in Itabira and we have seen that in Uberlandia there is a multidisciplinary team. This is essential, especially care centered around this team.” All of these improvements can be replicated, he explained.
Centro Vida is the first hotel in Minas Gerais to offer exclusive multidisciplinary care to patients who have been diagnosed with Covid-19, have been hospitalized, and will now require ongoing care.
Kunas Collaborating Center
Since 2017, Uberlândia has developed the unification of health services through healthcare planning, called the Qualifica SaUDI project in the municipality, which came to ensure community access to health units and to enhance primary care in the city. The initiative had positive effects, particularly in service flow, reduced waiting time for appointments, expansion of the family registry, and risk stratification for users, among others.
The processes developed prompted Conass to choose Uberlândia as the Collaborating Centre, the purpose of which is to promote and expand technical cooperation between states and municipalities, to facilitate information and services, as well as to stimulate and support training and research. This makes the municipality a reference for other sites that want to follow the example of Uberlandia.
