QUISAMO – On December 1, at 2 pm, the Minister of Sports and Youth of the city of Quesama, Isis das Chagas, and the President of the Judo Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Joseni Costa, will meet to discuss the preparation of the calendar, including the municipality in the constituency Federation Championship. The meeting was arranged on Tuesday (16), during a meeting between the Secretary and Events Manager of Núcleo Norte, of the Federation, Jorge Coutinho. Also participating will be the president of the Núcleo Norte Judo Federation, Orlando Jr.
The intention is to include the municipality of Gisama in the schedule of official events of the Judo Federation, as well as to resume the practice of sports in the municipality. The federation, which is initiating a project to expand and spread the sport indoors, has already indicated the possibility of donating an official mat for competitions and training, which will be installed in the Walth Mille Pessanha Polysports Gym, which is being evaluated by the federation’s events manager as “great”.
According to Jorge Coutinho, the Federation understands that judo is a martial art with great potential for growth in the state of Rio, especially in the interior, where sports centers can be established to train athletes. Of all the individual sports played at the Olympics, it was judo that brought the most medals to Brazil. In all, there are 22, including four gold, three silver and 15 bronze. But, among them, Rio de Janeiro “victory” only three: bronze, with São Paulo Luiz Onmora, a Flamengo athlete, in 1984, in Los Angeles (USA); Bronze with Flavio Canto, born in the United Kingdom, but lives in Rio, in Athens (Greece); And the gold with Raffaella Silva, Rio, 2016.
For the Minister of Sports and Youth, Isis das Chagas, there is a great potential for judo in Qaisama. The Minister predicted: “We are evaluating partnerships for the next year. Although we already have a plan, the proposal of the Judo Federation is of great interest to us. Everything that is to develop and stimulate the sport, we will evaluate.”
